Step 1: In your soaping pot, combine the oils and melt them, then let them cool to room temperature.

Step 2: Oils and clays should be smoothly combined. Next, measure out the lye and water, add the lye to the water (never the other way around), and stir gently while wearing safety gear outside or in a well-ventilated room.

Step 3: Wait until the mixture reaches room temperature.

Step 4: After adding the lye water to the oils, mix the batter with an immersion or stick blender until it reaches a light trace. If using an essential oil, mix it in.

Step 5: Pour the mixture into the molds, let it sit for 72 hours, then slice it up and take it out of the form. Leave for 6 to 8 weeks to dry out and saponify.
