Sandalwood Bath Bombs

Anyone can easily recognise the scent of sandalwood, a mixture of sweet and spicy with a hint of wood. They are native to Australia, Asia, and the Islands of the South Pacific. It is widely known for its fragrance and skin benefits like toning, repairing skin tissues, and anti-aging properties. It is loaded with antioxidants that fight environmental stressors.

Know About Sandalwood Bath Bomb Ingredients

Let’s look closer at the ingredients of a sandalwood bath bomb and how to contribute to it.

1. Witch Hazel Hydrosol

Witch hazel hydrosol is a natural astringent which helps tighten pores and reduce inflammation. Witch hazel hydrosol gently cleanses the skin, making it suitable for all skin types, especially dry and sensitive skin.

2. Cocoa Powder

Cocoa powder can be used solely for its delicious fragrance or brown colour. It contains antioxidants that may help nourish the skin.

3. Golden Jojoba Oil

Golden jojoba oil is known for mimicking the skin’s natural sebum. Golden jojoba oil is a great moisturiser that leaves the skin feeling soft and supple. In bath bombs, Golden jojoba oil helps bind dry ingredients together and create a luxurious feel.

4. Pink Himalayan Salt

Pink Himalayan salt is rich in minerals that soothe sore muscles and exfoliate the skin with its coarse texture. It also softens the bathwater, making it even more relaxing.

5. Baking Soda

Baking soda mostly contributes to the fizz of the bath bomb when baking soda acts with an acidic ingredient like citric acid, releasing carbon dioxide and resulting in fizz and bubbles.

DIY Sandalwood Bath Bomb Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Citric Acid - 300 Grams
  • Cocoa Powder - 5 Grams
  • Baking Soda - 600 Grams
  • Himalayan Salt - 5 Grams
  • Rose Clay Powder - 5 Grams
  • Golden Jojoba Oil - 18 Grams
  • Matte Red Soap Color - 3 Drops
  • Witch Hazel Hydrosol - 2 Tablespoons
  • Sandalwood Fragrance Oil - 18 Grams
  • Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate - 120 Grams

Supplies:

  • Bowls
  • Spoon
  • Spray Bottle
  • Measuring Scale
  • Bath Bomb Molds

Directions:

Step 1: Before starting any DIY, start by sanitising the workstation and utensils. Start with adding two tablespoons of witch hazel to a spray bottle.

Step 2: Take a bowl only for dry ingredients and add 300 grams of citric acid, 600 grams of baking soda, 120 grams of sodium cocoyl isethionate, 5 grams of cocoa powder, 5 grams of rose clay powder, and 5 grams of pink Himalayan salt.

Step 3: In another bowl for wet ingredients, add 18 grams of Golden jojoba oil, 18 grams of sandalwood fragrance oil, and three drops of Matte Red Soap Color. Stir. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl while mixing to avoid the formation of clumps.

Step 4: Take a spoonful of bath bomb mix into your palm and try to form a ball. If it clumps together, your mixture is ready for the bath bomb moulds; if it does not, spray witch hazel in small quantities until you reach the desired consistency.

Step 5: Transfer the mixture to bath bomb molds and set them aside for an hour. After an hour, gently tap the mould with a spoon to easily release the bath bomb from the mould. Again, let the bath bomb cure for 24 hours before use. Your bath bombs are ready for a peaceful getaway.

Conclusion

A sandalwood bath bomb combines a calming aroma with soothing and nourishing ingredients like witch hazel, cocoa powder, Golden jojoba oil, pink Himalayan salt, and baking soda. By understanding each ingredient's function, one can formulate a perfect DIY bath bomb for nourishing, healthy, and revitalised skin.
