Ingredients:

  • Virgin Olive Oil - 14 oz
  • Virgin Coconut Oil - 12 oz
  • Sunflower Oil - 4 oz
  • Avocado Oil - 4 oz
  • Sodium Hydroxide Lye - 4.8 oz
  • Distilled Water - 11.5 oz
  • Lemon Essential Oil - 2 oz
  • Yellow Oxide Pigment - 1 Tablespoon
  • Titanium Dioxide Pigment - 1 Tablespoon
  • Poppy Seeds - 1 Tablespoon

Frosting:

  • Shea Butter - 12 oz
  • Virgin Coconut Oil - 3 oz
  • Sweet Almond Oil - 3 oz
  • Beeswax - 1.5 oz
  • Lemon Essential Oil - 2 Tablespoon
  • Titanium Dioxide Pigment - 1 Tablespoon
  • Yellow Oxide Pigment - 1 Tablespoon

Equipment:

  • Soap mold (cupcake mold)
  • Digital kitchen scale
  • Heat-safe container
  • Stick blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Thermometer

Instructions:

Step 1: Begin by measuring out the lye and distilled water in separate containers. Make sure to wear gloves and protective eyewear and mix the lye into the water slowly while stirring until fully dissolved.

Set the lye solution aside to cool. In a heat-safe container, measure out the coconut oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, and avocado oil. Melt the oils in a microwave or on the stove top until fully liquid.

Step 2: Once both the lye solution and oils have cooled to around 100-110°F, pour the lye solution into the oils and use a stick blender to mix until the soap reaches trace. Add in the lemon essential oil, yellow oxide pigment, titanium dioxide pigment, and poppy seeds to the soap mixture and stir until fully combined.

Step 3: Pour the soap mixture into the cupcake molds and let them sit for 24-48 hours to fully harden. And For the frosting, melt the shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and beeswax in a double boiler. Once melted, remove from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.

Step 4: Add in the lemon essential oil, yellow oxide pigment, and titanium dioxide pigment to the frosting mixture and use a hand mixer to whip the mixture until it has a frosting-like texture. Once the soap cupcakes have fully hardened, remove them from the mold and pipe the frosting on top of each cupcake using a piping bag or a plastic bag with the corner snipped off.

Step 5: Let the soap cupcakes cure for at least 4-6 weeks before using to allow the soap to fully harden and become milder on the skin. To use, wet the soap cupcake and lather onto the skin as you would with any other soap. Store the remaining soap cupcakes in a cool, dry place until ready to use.
